ON THE BACK BURNER

Here is how to fix a vintage gas stove. Go to the local junk store called " Waste Not Want Not" and start a conversation with a stranger about what you are doing. Port Townsend is a hard town to describe. No one is who you think they are. The stranger was a plain looking guy, needed a shave, flannel shirt, sort of nondescript. He told us what to do with our problem about a valve. Turns out that he is the fore most authority on all things gas. He is called in all around the world to stop and start power facilities. What he told us to do was simple and we did it. Now I really have a stove. All burners and the oven work. I used oven cleaner today as the last cleaning step. Another good clean down and my part is done. Now my son has to do some calibrating and I may have a stove before I leave for Venice.
