I know good bread when I eat it. I have baked bread from scratch. I have made bread using a bread machine. I have two friends who made really good bread. I feel as if I know bread. The best french bread that I have eaten is from Leidenheimer's
bakery in New Orleans. If you eat a legitimate po'boy in New Orleans, it is on Leidenheimer bread. Period. I have tried asking them to ship me some, but they wouldn't. The second best french bread is from a small Bakery in Venice , Florida, called Croissant
Bakery. My N.Y. daughter says it is Manhatten ready and it should move there. Their bread is crispy on the outside and holey on the inside. That is real french bread. I just spent 3 dollars on what is supposed to be French bread, here in Port Townsend.
It is a good sour dough loaf type ,but not French bread. The crust so dense that I had a hard time cutting it with my sharpest knife.I was really disappointed.
i'll eat it toasted now with a lot of sweet butter and just dream about
my crush on Liedenheimer Bakery. The thought is enough for me to want to plan a trip to New Orleans. Didn't someone once say " Let them eat French bread".
