What a difference 24 hours make when it relates to weather. Sun shine and mostly blue skies. Today was the day designated to be"take the ferry day". The ferries are subsidized and the waterway is considered part of the highway system. My senior
ticket, one way, was $1.73. We caught it in down town Port Townsend, we walked on and spent 45 minutes walking the outside decks. There is a concession stand, seats, tables, elevator, and stairs. People with bikes walk on just like we did. All other vehicles
drive on and once parked, the occupants can get out of their cars and enjoy the views. The Port Townsend ferry goes to Coupeville, where ever that is. When we got there we hiked up to a battery , saw some old forts and then took a steep set of steps to the
waters edge. I have never seen so many rocks, many of which I put in my back pack. I couldn't resist their colors. It was just like bring coal to NewCastle, but I had to do it. I'll add them to my rock fence and they can remind me of a very nice day that we
took the ferry to Coupeville.
