ON THE BACK BURNER

I was seriously thinking about mattresses. No one ever told me that they have a life span. We had our first mattress for maybe 40 plus years. We were very comfortable with it. One day I noticed that pieces of the frame were falling onto the floor. Was that a sign to get a new one. A couple of years later, I guess we did. We bought the one I have now. Truthfully, we never even bought our first mattress. The whole bedroom was a gift from my parents. So the new mattress was a first time buy. I had no idea that mattresses were so expensive. The reason I had mattresses on my mind is that I just finished pet sitting where I spent the week sleeping on a yoga mat and sleeping bag, on the floor. That was my choice . The pup that I was with was being crate trained and he was lonely at night and howled. I slept next to him , on the floor and comforted him. He liked that, as did the neighbors. Here is the clincher. My back didn't hurt, I wasn't stiff. I slept just fine. On my expensive mattress, I often woke up stiff . I thought back to how old my mattress was. In my head, I felt like we just bought it. Big time wrong. It's been years. Oh no. Not another new mattress. I may have to go this route or sleep on the floor .Hard decision. I bet Noodle wouldn't mind.
