ON THE BACK BURNER

I have  given up knitting for a breather. I decided to take on making a patch quilt. I've made many of them. You cut out blocks of different patterns and colors, stitch three pieces together, like a sandwich. Then you sew them together to make strips, then sew these together to make a quilt. The final step is to fringe every block. I couldn't decide on the bottom fabric. Then I remembered that  I had a hand stitched  quilt top that I found in a junk store in Murphysburo, Tennessee , maybe 25 years ago. I know exactly why I was there. A daughter was running an ultra marathon as was a young man from Chicago. He needed a support person to meet him along the trail and give him water and anything else that he needed to complete the run.  I figured that going with this young man would give me  a chance to be with my daughter. ( she had and maybe still has  the course record. ). During some downtime I hit  the " antique" street of Murphysburo. That is were I found the quilt top.I have never done anything with it, but for some reason, I couldn't give it up, even if I downsized many times since  I bought it. To make a short story of this, I had the thought to make this unfinished hand pieced quilt the bottom of my block quilt. Now it has a permanent home.. it'll be in my summer trailer  in Port Townsend. Besherit.. Hebrew for  " it was meant to be".
