ON THE BACK BURNER

I don't know why I am  addicted to this NetFlex show called" Highway from Hell". It is about the dangers of the highways in British Columbia, Hope, and Alberta, Canada from blizzards ,avalanches, bad driving decisions and extreme cold. The heavy rescue towing truck drivers are magicians when it comes to getting these huge trucks and double semi trailers off the road so that the roads that are the life line to commerce are open  . The trucks that close the highway are charged by the government for the road stoppage, plus what they pay to the rescue towing company.

The men are super smart . Now why would I think otherwise.? I just had a preconceived idea about the person who controls a super sized tow truck. They handle the job with finesse. they know math, such as angles , energy problems, weights, mechanics, cost effectiveness of what happens to the market place if the highways are closed for an extended time. They have compassion ,they are emotional when they have a death in one of these big rigs . I am impressed . I am reminded that they do their jobs with the skill of a surgeon. I am also reminded of how narrow my experiences are. Not everyone has clean hands when they work. I have great respect for these tow truck drivers. Most of the people that I know come home from work that was in a antiseptic environment. These guys come home ,hours or even a couple of days later, wet ,dirty, exhausted, after working outdoors in extreme conditions. They  do  not stop until the trucks are off the highway and either running or towed to a pull off that then allows the highway to reopen. Maybe that is why I watch, their work ethic is heroic and it makes me feel a little guilty that I didn't realize that before.
