ON THE BACK BURNER

Someone asked me how  could I bike at Mayakka State Park. She brought a visiting grandchild there and found it over crowded and the roads in disrepair.  I figured out why we had different experiences at the park. My practice is ,on Sunday mornings, to leave the house very early, go to visit Bob 's grave and then continue to Mayakka. I'm home by 10:30. And until this month, it hasn't been  what we refer to as "season".  I found this out the hard way. My Sunday schedule changed because , we at our congregation are having guest Rabbi's spend the week end leading services, having chat time and trying in a short time, see if we both would like them to lead our congregation. In  other words, they are auditioning for a position. My Sunday routine was put aside because  I didn't want to miss any of the interaction. I went to the cemetery later in the day and then to Mayakka, but not with my bike. The park was so crowded that I had to wait in line to get in.Then the road was filled with novice bikers and hikers, who walked three abreast on the road, with traffic. I see what my friend meant. The road is still pocked with holes, but so many visitors! And the bathroom was closed. I don't know if this was because of the work stoppage out of DC, but it was closed. Now I can see that if I want to do my weekly visit to Bob, I  should think about going early in the day and early in the week.I will feel like the little piggy who got up early to avoid the wolf.
