I observed something a little strange this morning. Because I was having what I thought was a problem with my bank, I was taking my iPad to my bank branch in Sarasota to have them help me solve the problem. It turned out to be an ipad problem and
my friendly banker couldn't help me with it. He did try. What I observed on my drive to the bank, was great numbers of Amish folk on their two wheel bikes , pedaling all over the surrounding area. The women were color
coded and all of the men, from kid to elderly, had on black pants and suspenders, and white shirts. I knew that there were Amish in this neighborhood of Sarasota, but I have never seen so many , going in different directions, biking across
streets, through parking lots, in the street, on the side walk.It was very industrious looking. i wondered how the women could ride with long skirts on, but , they seemed not to be bothered by them. I looked around at the stores that were in the neighborhood.
There was an Amish furniture maker, a Dutch restaurant and bakery . Everyone was going to work. Everyone had someplace to be and go. They were like busy bees, flitting around. I wondered how the women felt to be color coded like that. The color
of your garment sure told where you were in your life journey. You were labeled before you had a chance to develop into who you were meant to be. I don't think that I would be happy like that. The men , too, were just one blur of black , white and suspenders.
I had a wall hanging that I embroidered years ago. It said " Birds of a Feather flock together". I think that is pretty much a truism.
