ON THE BACK BURNER

If the President revokes citizenship for Birthright citizens, I may be next. My Mother was an immigrant . She came to this country to escape  life for a Jew in Russia.  She became a citizen when I was about 10 years old. Until that time, once a year, she went to City Hall and registered as an alien. I was born in the United States. For the first 10 years of my life, my Mother was an alien. Am I a citizen? I am not sure that my father ever became a citizen. He always said that he was born in Meridian, Mississippi. However , my son in law did research and found that he came over from Romanian when he was an infant. He served in the First World War at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. His brother, who may not have been a citizen either, was gassed in the  first World War and blinded. He spent the rest of his life, blind. My father never missed an election. If they were not actually citizen, they behaved like ones.  They were hard workers. They paid taxes. I am  confused. Am I citizen. Am I a citizen by way of Birthright ?  The 14 th amendment says that if you are born in the territory of the United States, you are a citizen, regardless of your parents status. I never thought or felt otherwise. All the more reason for me to vote. I could be next. Then you.
