ON THE BACK BURNER

I became annoyed  with our long time insurance carrier. I not so suddenly had the thought that we have used them as our carrier for over 60 years and our loyalty meant nothing to them. This made me angry. Especially since I only heard from them when they increased the rates of our insurance.  And that was with a mailing. I tried to reach them on the phone to see if an agent could go over our present needs, especially since I wanted to insure my travel trailer. The menu ,on the phone, was 10 messages long. If you want this you did that, if you wanted that ,you did this. Then , the last message was a phone number if you wanted a specific agent. They did not repeat the numbers, so if you missed a digit, our fell asleep at the phone because it went on so long, you couldn't just press the last button, you had to start at ground zero and do the whole thing again. Then , when you got the agent that you wanted, you had to leave a message, because ,of course, he wasn't there. I was so incensed, that I wrote a letter to the corporate office. guess what? I got a call this morning from an agent. I asked him why he called me and  he said that he got a call from corporate. Good. I ranted about the phone menu, I invited him to call the original number that I had. He had never tried that. New thought to him. We had a long conversation and by the time we finished , he was acting like maybe he wanted my business and was  acting like I was a valued client. I guess I told him. It was fun.
