ON THE BACK BURNER

When I was in Port Townsend I smelled lavender. There is a very active lavender business in the surrounding country side. It is available as a flower, and as an oil for chemicals , such as perfume. The farms are literally purple. The fences are purple, the houses are purple, the fields are purple.  I guess they want you to know what they do there. My yurt had a bunch of lavender at each slat. It smelled heavenly. I wonder if you could get so used to the scent that you don't notice it. We could use some good  smelling scents around us here in Venice. The red tide is very strong. It. has been lingering for weeks. I noticed a really strong acrid smell when I was dropped off from the airport. I thought it was hidden poop. It was the red tide. I feel for the people living on the island.Even lavender wouldn't help much.

Leona, you should say at the town meetings that we need lavender to get rid of our stink.
