ON THE BACK BURNER

I attended Rosh Hashanah services in an Episcopal Church. That is not too unusual for me. Our original Temple in Evanston started out in a church. This is what comes around kind of an experience. The Rosh Hashanah service here in Port Townsend was led by very competent lay people. I had the honor of having an Aliyah and I think they were not expecting more than a mumble from me, but I did the JCV proud and belted out the prayers. Some where later in the service, they did something so nice. Everyone who had accepted an Honor was asked to stand and a blessing was given to us. I was very touched. It didn't take much for me to be touched as this was my first holiday alone. Another first and I am still OK.
