ON THE BACK BURNER

I sent off to Amazon for a book on how to write Haiku. I am learning all kinds of things about the history of it. And here I thought that I just had to follow a pattern. There are different masters and they each have their own method. The real secret,  am finding, is to get rid of as many words as you can and still get the thought across. I have been practicing .So far, all of mine have been about silence. which is telling because my house is very quiet. We were never big on background noises. Unless we , and now me, plan to actually listen to something, there is no noise. I can remember my parents home, when the TV was always on. When Bob went to ask my parents permission to marry me , (does anyone still do this?, )he had to ask them to turn off the TV. i think the Ed Sullivan Show was on. My Haiku for today is :

silence

engulfed in love

peace

It's a work in progress.
