ON THE BACK BURNER

I read some where that this month recognizes Elderly Abuse. Many years ago I did a paper on Elderly Abuse. The problem then was that people were leaving their elderly on the steps of hospitals. That was more humane than the alternative. I don't condone  elderly abuse, but I can certainly relate to it's being done. There comes a point ,if you have no back up, no outside resources, you are the care giver and you feel as if you are isolated, that you do that unthinkable.. lash out and hurt the very person that you are caring for. Ît is a fine line that has been over stepped. Without a break, no resources, limited financial support, it can be overwhelming. Even a most  caring person can be pushed to feel as if they could do something that they don't want to do, but I can understand the feeling. With the news of recent suicides and budgets cut for mental health, along with care givers not asking for respite, these things can happen. It happens and it shouldn't.
