It's interesting how a taste of something can bring back a flood of memories. Like washing your mouth out with soap. A favorite of my Mother's. My Mother was verbally abusive and sometimes physically abusive. Hitting me until she'll "make you cry",
or pulling my long braids, or using Life Boy soap to wash out my mouth, was a favorite . She also used Life Boy as my shampoo because she thought that it would keep me a red head longer. What triggered these old memories is the taste in my mouth. I had read
on Pinterest that toothpaste, peroxide and baking soda could be used as a tooth whitener. I had all of the ingredients, so I tried it. The baking soda was on the sink. I guess I had forgotten to put it away as a cleaning product. So I just got the peroxide
and toothpaste out and mixed a small amount in my hand. It had a different taste, but I didn't think anything of it. I went to put away the yellow box of baking soda in the linen closet and noticed that "yikes", it wasn't baking soda at all. It was a rug deodorant
with baking soda in it. My teeth feel really clean, I'm still alive and I had a flash back of some bad memories. Not bad for a quiet Sunday morning.
