ON THE BACK BURNER

I  was looking over Bob's discharge papers from the military. He weighs exactly the same today as he did 65 years ago. Only he may have shrunk a bit. That is not fair. The weight, I mean. I've shrunk less proportionately, but I have added a few lbs. So I decided  to go on a diet. I chose Dr. Atkins. After all, I love fat. I bought a carbohydrate counter and and let Bob finish my secret stash of gelato. I am not  an egg person but eggs are a must on this diet. They fill in when you are stumped about choices. My house smells a little of bacon and with Passover coming in a few days, that is a direct contradiction. Of course I had to buy a new cook book. So far, I've only read it. What do I miss the most.? Surprisingly, it is fruit . About a year ago, I lost my taste for chocolate, I'm not into ice cream(gelato doesn't count as an ice cream, to me) I like veggies, but I have never craved them. So what is left, is fruit. Maybe in the next phase of this diet, I can have some fruit. How silly can it be when your mouth waters for cantaloupe and watermelon.
