ON THE BACK BURNER

I don't believe that God punishes people. However, I had the kind of 24 hours when I may have questioned that. Bob started with a little cough around 1 AM. By 1:30 AM , I am doing the tea and honey thing. By 1:45 I am wondering if we should start thinking about emergency care. We got dressed and went to wait in the living room to make the decision on what to do. This is when I wish that I were not in charge. Bob's cough was quiet, so we sat there pretending we were on a long airplane flight, side by side, dozing until it got light and then we would go to a walk in clinic. Light came and I decided to walk Noodle before we left, in case I wouldn't be back for awhile. I had to find him , wake him up and put the leash on. I did. I turned to put on a sweater and I heard Noodle scream. Actually scream. I turned to look and he was on his back, little legs straight up in the air, still screaming. Not crying , screaming. I thought that he was dying. I cradled him and kept talking to him. He was dazed, but alive. He couldn't support himself. I carried him into our bed and wrapped him in our blanket. This may have been a mistake because he had peed all over himself. He was quiet and then he recovered, went for a walk, ate, etc. What just happened. ? I took Bob to the Walk in and he has a bad sinus infection. The kind where the back of your throat is red and raw. Magic pills were prescribed and now everything is quiet. The Vet thinks it may have been a seizure for Noodle that may or may not happen again. Our daughter thinks it is related to his stone, a small particle painfully moving through him. Whatever, I really had an exciting morning. And God, enough already.
