I think that I can spot a Homeless person here in Venice. I understand that there is a colony of Homeless people near by, but I more often think I can spot them walking or riding their bicycles near my condo. I have a few favorites. There is one guy
that I see almost every day. He lives someplace , maybe with someone who takes care of him. I see him playing an air guitar as he waits for traffic. He has a beard and about every few months he either has it trimmed or shaved off. He is a good looking man.
Then I think I recognize some Homeless people by their back packs and bicycles. I am always surprised that they look clean and appropriate dressed. I don't see the negatives that people bring up about the Homeless.I live near the Salvation Army and I know
that on a certain day of the week, food is distributed . I can see people walking toward Colonia with bags of food. When I read the police reports in our local paper, the addresses of the people mentioned, are often around Colonia. I write the
word Homeless with a capital H, as a sign of respect. Homeless people need to be recognized, they are not invisible and this is my way of acknowledging this.
