ON THE BACK BURNER

Do kids play hopscotch anymore, or jacks, or even pick up sticks. Jacks and pick up sticks use to make great Chanukah presents for some of our kids. I remember giving bicycle bells , too. The kind that you needed to attach to the handle bar . That was a cheap fix when you were giving a "small" present a night to four kids for eight nights. Our wrapping paper was the colored funnies from the Sunday paper. We still wrap presents for the family in newsprint. Only now, we don't get colored funnies on Sunday. We don't get a Sunday paper anymore either. There was just too much paper . My recycling bin was too heavy for me to bring to the curb. I do miss certain sections. I love the Style section. Reading the marriage announcements and weddings of interesting couples was fun. I could read the paper on line, but I still like to hold the paper in my hand. I will tell you this. The NYT's makes wonderful packing paper if you are moving. We are not moving, but I'll save the Monday through Friday paper for you if you want.
