ON THE BACK BURNER

Have you ever cooked something, and no matter what you do, it just isn't all that good? I bought some stew meat. That was my first mistake. I should have bought  a piece of beef and cut it into cubes myself. Then I decided to use my crock pot, set for high 10 hours. Thought that would tenderize it and make a great sauce. I made my second mistake , trying to be creative and at the same time use up various things that I had in the fridge. Like dried tomatoes in oil, some muffelatto stuff in a jar, fresh mushrooms and for good measure, smoked paprika. It was in the fridge, so why not. The finished product was beyond not good. The meat was so dry and tough that I had the brain storm of shredding it and maybe it would taste better. The sauce was stringent and harsh to the throat. The mushrooms were good. I then made another mistake ,trying to salvage it. I threw in a jar of marinara sauce. It did not help. Fortunately, I have  a garbage disposal. I ate Halo tangerines and a mini do-nut for dinner and Bob plowed through a bowl of what it is I made. He will eat anything, which in reality is not such a great compliment to my cooking.
