I was thinking today about giving people labels. I use to be known to a bunch of kids as Mom. (Four to be exactIy, but they are catching up to me in age and pretty soon we will probably be on first name basis.) I am still known as Mrs. Mostly,
I just go by my first and last name. When I am called Mrs. Uchitelle It sounds strange. My Mother,many years ago was ordering groceries by phone. She gave her name, Mrs. Hirsch. The caller must have said which Mrs. Hirsch and she snipped back,THE Mrs.
Hirsch. (I love this story). But now, as I am thinking ,am I labeled. A Mom , a Mrs. or maybe a direction. Am I Left thinking and labeled that way, or am I to the Right. I'm probably more a right-y, politically . Am I a liberal.. or maybe a conservative. I
am pretty conservative, especially when driving.Now I wait to be sure a person is making a right turn into the street that I am waiting to make a right turn out of. But I'm probably pretty liberal when it comes to most things that matter. Lives matter, my
religion matters, my ethics matter. My family matters. Labels really don't matter. It's what I do that does. And I do pretty good.
