ON THE BACK BURNER

I am going to have to stop getting the L.L.Bean catalogue. I have some things from them that I have worn for 20 years. They just don't wear out. Now, living in Florida, the clothes just don't fit my life style. Especially the Fall/Winter catalogue. I look through it, but nothing grabs me any more. I just don't see the practicality of fleece lined hoodies. The Irish knit sweaters bring back fond memories of raking leaves at our cottage and the smell of our burning them(when there wasn't a fire ban) but what would I do with one now. Probably Noodle would like it as a soft bed. I do notice that if we accidentally leave a garment on the floor, we find him curled up in it. Sweet. I still have ,from L.L.Bean , those duck boots for walking in the rain . I keep them right outside the door, in case it rains .I do still have a green fleece jacket that I can not kill. I wish that it would wear out so I could buy another in a newer color. Bob has slippers from them that are a walking nightmare. But he refuses to let me order a new pair. "They are fine just the way they are. Broken in". They are ugly. Toothpaste smears, heels worn in. I guess they do qualify as comfortable. They are part of his history. I guess we keep them. And him.
