ON THE BACK BURNER

I forgot how beautiful Chicago is. And the South side of It. Living in Evanston, which is North, didn't make for many reasons to go South. Today ,I was given a tour of the campus of the University of Chicago. Gothic buildings, a mushroom shaped outdoor art work at the place where the atomic bomb was first created on paper, the Robie House designed by Frank Lloyd Wright , lunch in a cafeteria with students, and a walk around the beautiful grounds made a dent on my Fit Bit. So many people, so many cars, so much to see. I felt as if I wanted someone to take my hand and help me cross the street. I was looking at tall buildings, and activities going on around me. I was driven around the neighborhoods, seeing a small piece of the Obama's house, being given the evil eye by the henchmen of Louis Farakan when we drove slowly past his house. The day ended around the dinner table where we all gathered for dinner, talking over each other, laughing, remembering, forgetting that an event ever took place, even if it was at my house,. Just so happy. just being.
