ON THE BACK BURNER

I experienced another act of nature this afternoon that was awesome. We were in the car, driving through a heavy rain when two lightening strikes seemed to come down on our car. One of the bolts hit a transformer right where we actually saw it. That boom from the strike was loud, really loud. The smoke from the transformer means that some neighborhood will be without electricity for awhile. After our errand, as we were nearing our development, suddenly the street we were on was flooded. IT just ,BANG, flooded. I had to make a quick decision to keep going or turn around and go a few rain soaked miles out of our way. I kept going, very slowly, trying not to make a wake. I saw ,in the rear window, a sheriff's car come up behind me and stop. I think he was going to divert the rest of the traffic. I was relieved to see a dry street at the end of that flooded area. I don't think that I will do that again. Between an eclipse and the lightening strike in one week, Mother Nature gave me enough excitement to last until 2024.
