ON THE BACK BURNER

I can't promise that I won't bring up Cricket again, but it took a special little senior dog to get us over Cricket. Noodle, who doesn't answer to any name because he doesn't hear, except for the refrigerator door opening, has wiggled his close to the ground, short legged , bleary, cloudy eyed persona into our lives. I'm not sure how he did this. Someone, at some time, loved this dog and treated him well. Then something happened and his world changed. Temporarily, until we came on the scene. He loves to be picked up and rocked. He prances when we go for a walk. His tail wags ,once he realizes that you are talking to him. He does "see". He notices shadows and he knows trees, so he must see shapes. He is completely still when I put drops in his eyes, three times a day. Someone must have been doing this for a long time for him to accept the drops every single time I put them in. No squirming, no trying to get away. Just acceptance. Of course, I give him a treat afterwards. That's what a Mom does. And PS. Have you noticed that if you turn the word MOM upside down, the word becomes WOW.
