ON THE BACK BURNER

I love magazines. I always have. But they are now so expensive, that I stopped buying them. I cheat sometimes and read them in line at the grocery store. I never get to finish the whole article, but it'll do. The rest of the time, I read them in doctor's offices. I don't know what happens to current magazines, because most of the ones in the offices are at least a season behind.. If I'm lucky. I started out reading "Seventeen", long years ago. The issue that came out just before school started was my favorite. I poured over the fashions. Cardigans that you would button on backwards. Pearls, single strand. Saddle oxfords. White socks that you folded over. Plaid skirts. I never looked like that, but it was fun to imagine. Most likely ,I wore a white blouse and a skirt of some undetermined origin.I did have saddle oxford's and penny loafers. And white socks. I never wore hand me down clothes. Not even from my sister who was much older than I.(8 years) My mother would have cringed if I wore a hand me down. Actually, there were no hand me downs. I was the last of the cousin . Too bad. I would have loved their clothes.

Leona, I have some magazines you can have. When I am finished looking through them I never know what do to with them. I would gladly save them for you.
