ON THE BACK BURNER

I think that I counted 84 cook books on my book shelf. I am always looking to weed out books that I no longer find useful, interesting,or pretty. I've had two collections of cook books. I've donated some hard to find, out of print cookbooks to a library that only catalogues cook books. I sold a collection before we moved to Venice. But now, ,I am viewing my books and wondering if I should purge again. Naw, I'm not ready to do that again. What I should do is put all of the scraps of hand written recipes in a binder of some sort. This reminds me of my late mother in law. She had a metal index card container with hand written recipes. When she died, I got the box. many of the recipes were duplicates. The same recipe from Mrs. Behrman, Mrs. Goldstick, Mrs who ever. She was too kind to tell the person who gave her the recipe that she already had it. So she wrote it out again. I had her brisket recipe on about 5 different cards. One brisket, one package of Liptons onion soup...wait..isn't that the one I gave her.
