ON THE BACK BURNER

I am trying to process the dire emotions that I experienced these 24 hours. I am trying to put the feelings into words. When I got the call from the Vet that Cricket was showing signs of improvement, I literally felt a weight lift . I 'm still not able to explain how I went from our family vet , at 8AM to the first ER facility at 7PM and then followed by the next Animal ER. where the cardiologist was located with her fantastic equipment , getting home at midnight, without our Cricket. This has been a lost 24 hours. I have spent it sitting next to the phone, waiting to hear from the animal cardiologist. At the last call that I made, Cricket was resting comfortably. I call every two hours,, starting at 5AM. I want to jump in the car and be with her. Now, waiting, I don't know what to expect.ER Hospitals for pets aren't set up for visitors. I can't crawl into Cricket's little oxygenated cube. Later: Good news. Cricket is responding to room air and no coughing. As soon as her blood pressure is regulated she can come home. The reason for her rapid deterioration is that she ruptured some cord in her heart(?) . It caused bleeding and I guess one system after the other was affected. I am so relieved. She will always now have a heart condition. She won't be a perky playful pet, but then again, she never was.. Just a licking sweet heart. We dodged the bullet this time. I'm exhausted.
