ON THE BACK BURNER

Another confession. I like raw food, meat and fish ,included. I also like the fat( cooked) on meat and the crispy skin on poultry. There, I got that off of my chest. And now you know. I don't know why I love these things. I always have. It's nothing for me to nibble (sometimes more than a nibble) on raw beef before I actually cook it. I love sushi. I have to hold back on the crispy skin of chicken and turkey. At a restaurant, I will ask the waitperson to bring me a hamburger very rare. They sometimes come back and say the chef(?) won't cook the meat that rare. I order something else and pout. I love that seared tuna that is now popular. I can tell when a person probably grew up in a Kosher home. They ask for their meat to be well done. My Mother killed great cuts of beef. Her gravy was wonderful, though. Every drop of flavor that should have been in the roast, was baked out and in the gravy. Her gravy was the best thing that she made. I know that they say that raw meat is supposed to be bad for you. I don't always listen to "they".
