ON THE BACK BURNER

My daughter in law sent us a wonderful "care package" that included scones. They were wonderful and as food will do, reminded me of the first time I had a scone. A real scone. In England . Clotted cream, preserves, the real stuff. It's something you don't forget. They sure were better than the Bisquick biscuits that I made on a Sunday as a treat. Then I began to think about having a "Tea". China, silver, little nibbles, scones. I even got a book from the library about having a "Tea". Tea sounds so dignified. Coffee is brash, tea is gentle. I really don't care for hot tea, coffee is my drink. But tea has it's place when I have a sore throat and need something soothing. Tea and a lot of honey . A perfect combination for a scratchy throat. For some reason, coffee isn't medicinal. Need to relax ? Have a cup of tea. Stress? Have a cup of tea. Can't sleep? have a cup of tea. Want to wake up? Where's the coffee? Visit your lawyer's office and they ask if you want something. Coffee? Maybe I'll try some real tea. The kind that has to be made in a tea pot. Wait, I just had another flash back. I was served tea in Morocco . It is offered when you walk into any hotel lobby. Tea with mint . I even brought back the little glasses that the tea is served in. My Grandma drank tea with a cube of sugar set in her front teeth. How could I forget these things. Tea may have more of a history for me then I thought. I started out thinking of the delicious scone . But this is what happens with food. It's a memory booster.
