EverySaturday for way over 10 years, I met a group of my running buddies for a long run through Lincoln Park in Chicago and then out to breakfast. It was written in stone. Very seldom did another activity take precedence. In fact, when my Rabbi asked
why I didnt attend Saturday morning services and I said because I meet my support team, he never asked again. He thought that I was seeing a shrink. I never corrected the thought , because those ladies were my my true support. They saw me through many of life
challenges. Children marriages, husband's heart attack and later ,stroke, downsizing. It was like a marriage. "In sickness and in health". I'd do the same for them. Their weddings, (I was much older than they were )pregnancy and childbirth, organ transplant.
Those were the worse of days and also the best of days. I miss that group. Some of them moved, I moved.A few stayed in Chicago. We ran marathons together. Paris, France, Washington, DC, Chicago, New York. Damn, I miss them sometimes.
