ON THE BACK BURNER

Monday Because I am an early riser and Cricket is a late sleeper, I have time to think before I get out of bed. I think about what I have in the refrigerator that I can put in Bob's eggs. I can only have this thought every other day, because on the alternate days, he has oatmeal and that is served only one way..a sliced banana and raisins. I , on the other hand, use only salt and pepper and butter in my oatmeal. Who would ruin hot cereal with fruit. Like would you put a banana in your grits. That is so unsouthern and I do come from the south,y'all know. My Daddy put salt on his watermelon. I think that is because he told us that he was born in Meridian, Mississippi, which I have recently learned is not true. He was brought here , from Romania, as a baby. I think that is southern, too. The salt, not the being born in the US. I never learned to put salt on my watermelon. But I did eat catsup sandwiches as a kid. Didn't everyone? I also like okra. That is so south. I can't understand why it is so expensive at the grocery store. It is not an exotic veggie. Or why people object to the sliminess. Learn to cook it correctly and you will be converted. This started out about oatmeal, how did I get to okra.? Maybe I should wake up Cricket and get going.
