ON THE BACK BURNER

I can't exactly put this into the context in which I heard it last night at the first of three programs in a mini series our Rabbi is giving on Jewish Humor, but it pertained to memory. It's good to remember because this act helps stimulate your brain. I think that was the message. And that goes along with the proven fact that long term memory hangs around longer then the short term .Maybe that is why some of us can say with such authority,"back when I was a kid...", or can remember a punch line from a joke that we heard 30 years ago, but not remember the news we just heard on the TV. Living with someone with a memory deficit is not for the faint of heart. You start a lot of sentences with "remember the time .." . Remembering is a good thing. If you can laugh about remembering, that is even better. Once agin proving that laughter can be the best medicine.
