ON THE BACK BURNER

Someone stopped Cricket to ask if she were apricot colored. I always think of her as blond. Apricot sounds very classy, so I will now refer to her as an apricot colored peek -a-poo. Then my thoughts went to the term " old lady". I associate "old ladies" as the ones I remember having the sausage perms and blue hair. Where did they go ? My mother didn't have sausage curls, but she remarked later in her life ,that she couldn't remember what her natural hair color was because she had been coloring her hair for so long. As a reminder, I check my oldest daughters hair color because I think that is closest to what mine is/was. But back to age. Where did the "old ladies" go. We are so active that we are forgetting to get old. Some of us have more wrinkles than we would like, but I don't see any rocking chairs calling out to us. Maybe a recliner for an afternoon nap, but no rocking chairs, please.
