I don't understand the music or the words of the popular artists. But I do know all of the "old" songs. When I walk Cricket, I sound really good when I sing the old songs that I remember. When I was a kid, a happy memory that I have is all of the women
(3 of us )in the family would sing the Top Ten Songs of the Week. My father didn't sing. I never asked why he didn't join in. My kids never heard of the songs that can remember and our Grandchildren haven't a clue. I can sing "That Old Lamp Lighter" Blue Moon"and
"Over There".Some old songs remind me of fun rides in my father's Chevy, when we went out for an ice cream cone after dinner and then ride around New Orleans, picking out the house that we wanted to live in. I never really liked ice cream, but I wouldn't miss
the ride for anything. And, I don't know how this worked, but we had assembly every morning where we raised the flag and said "The Pledge of Allegiance ". Then we would sing a popular song, or a patriotic song. Then we went to our classroom. That 15 minutes
was the high light of the school day. Better than recess.
