ON THE BACK BURNER

Today I thought about how we used to have the drug store deliver to us. I have to pick up a special prescription tooth paste that Bob uses. It hasn't been on my to do list, so it hasn't been picked up. That's when I thought about our old drugstore delivering to us. This was years ago before the large chains came into existence. Our little drugstore was right next door to our neighborhood grocery. There were times when I was calling in to the drug store because at any given time, one of the four kids were sick and I couldn't get out, and I would ask them to stop in the grocery and bring me a loaf of bread or some milk. And they did. Both the grocery and the drug store knew us by name. Since this was way before credit cards, we charged at both stores and at the end of the month , we'd pay.Back in those days, I think that I didn't even write checks. My ,how times have changed.
