ON THE BACK BURNER

Filling a prescription here in Israel is an act of patience and diligence. One needs to only go to a certain pharmacy, even if it is not the one on your corner. Since most people do not have a car, this can involve two buses and a short walk. You know how CVS will call to remind you that your prescription is ready to be renewed, or that your prescription is ready and how you can even tell them when you will pick it up and ,not to be taken lightly, you can use the drive through pick up. Not here. Non of the above. You need your prescription request in your possession. Even the refill. Then you get to the clinic where the pharmacy is and you take a number. There are two sets of numbers. One set for people who only have one prescription to fill and the second set for multiple prescriptions. Maybe you take both to see which line moves faster. The good news. There are chairs for your comfort. 45 minutes later, it is your turn and you get your very expensive medication--- free. It Is so worth it and so Israeli.
