ON THE BACK BURNER

I can't wait to tell about our American / Canadian Thanksgiving Lunch. It was so Israeli. The food was fine, the company equally fine and everyone spoke English, which was really fine. The order of the serving was the Israeli touch. First came the cranberry sauce, which a few people at the table thought were beets. About 5 minutes later, the string beans came. About 5 minutes later, the sweet potatoes, seasoned with cumin . By now, we had eaten the cranberry sauce and the green beans. Then a server brought in a plate of white potatoes that were sorta hash browned. Quite good, actually. Those finished we waited to see what was next. Maybe the Turkey? Soon, the bread stuffing came. That was really good. The last dish was the sliced turkey.,white and dark and the leg. Since no one at our table seemed still hungry, I gave Bob the leg and shared it with him. Dessert came while we were singing old time songs to a piano. Seems that just as we do in the States, they couldn't make up their minds about what to serve, so we had apple pie and pumpkin pie. It was a fun afternoon and we had a very god time. Bob came home and took a nap. Just like at Thanksgiving. I started another knitting project. Tomorrow we do our own turkey. I can't wait to hit those pin feathers.
