ON THE BACK BURNER

I detect a change in the weather. I don't see, smell or feel the change, but know it is changing by my Canadian neighbors and Northern US neighbors coming back to Paradise. There are lights in what were empty units and cars in car ports. Cricket's buddies haven't come back yet, but she is waiting. When I take her for a walk, she often stops in front of their buildings and waits for a friend to come out. Won't she be surprised when that happens. I've been told, and really, how do "they" know this, that dogs have no sense of time. So a 3 month absence to them is no different then a 3 hour absence. I guess that makes me feel a little better about leaving Cricket for 6 weeks when we go to Israel. If she just thinks we are away for a day, then I would feel better. I am excited to be going ,but I still wish that Cricket would be with us. The closer we get to our departure date, the cuter and sweeter she seems to be. I have two cases of her favorite dog food put aside. A whole package of poop bags and a choice of leashes ,collars or harnesses, or both. I'll wash her beds and have her groomed . This reminds me, I better make an appointment for my hairdresser.
