I hear that in some parts of the world ,it will be autumn soon. The complaint that is most often heard here in Florida when newbees come, is that they miss the changing of the colors. No one says that they miss snow, sleet or ice. I can still hear in
my head, the sound of spinning tires in our alley way in Evanston. I don't miss that sound. I use to miss the changing of the colors. I've moved on. Now, I just miss a dry, crisp fall day.I also miss apple picking. That is something that we did every Rosh Hashanah
day after services. We'd go to services, go home, change and drive to the country and go to our special apple picking orchard. After we picked, and with four kids, we had a couple of bushels of apples in a few minutes, we went to the general store and bought
apple cider and some sausage and just sat outside and ate and drank. I haven't had a apple as good as those since we left the midwest. I don't know what I miss more. The memories of going to Breeden's for apples, the apples or the being together as a family.
I choose family. I can always buy an apple.
