ON THE BACK BURNER

There are several Norfolk pines around my condo. They are very handsome trees, that grow very straight and apparently, very fast. My neighbor said that she planted the one that grows between our units 10 years ago. It surprises me that they grow here in southwest Florida. I would think that with a name like Norfolk, they would grow in the East or Northeast. What I find so interesting is that in the early morning when I walk Cricket, there is a large white bird sitting at the very top of each of these trees. I am thinking that it isn't the tree variety that attracts the birds, but the height. They have unlimited vision. Pretty smart. I have no idea what kind of birds they are. I sometimes see them in small flocks, busy looking for what they look for. It's amazing how these birds have figured this out. It took me years to look up.
