ON THE BACK BURNER

I ordered "Night" for my KIndle. I wonder how many people will reread the book, now that Elie Weisel had died. I read it so many years ago that I actually don't remember reading it. I can see it ,in my mind, along with his other books on the shelf of our bookcase. I can "see" all of the books that I gave away during our down sizing. Some were hard to give away.Just having them on the shelf, unread, made good memories. I finally gave away books from nursing school. Especially the pharmaceutical ones. There are so many new drugs on the market . My books were outdated. I did keep Bob's High School Year Book. He never looks at it, but I felt it was a piece of history. I don't know if I even had a yearbook. I was getting married right after graduation , a yearbook wasn't as important to me then. I do have an old picture of my 8th grade graduation. Thank goodness I wrote the names of the kids on the back of the picture. I have no memory of most of them.I remember crazy things about those that I do still remember. Margie Maloney, future debutante, lived in a mansion on St. Charles Avenue. Her Dad only let her bring friends home if they brought their own food for snacks. Weird people. Then there was Gale. Not Gail, but Gale, like the wind. I loved eighth grade. That was my favorite year.Too bad I can't remember the kids more. I wonder if they are still alive. That's what you think when you hit a certain age. I hope that they had as good a life as I am, with many adventures.
