ON THE BACK BURNER

Last night at services, I learned that in the 1600's, a Rabbi interpreted what Moses should have done when he sent out scouts to observe in Canaan. He should have sent women scouts. How forward thinking of this early Rabbi. Why don't we hear more from him. His thinking was that the women would have been just as afraid of the size of the "Giants" in Canaan, but would have a better vision of the possibilities of what could be done there. Too bad for our history that that didn't happen. Think how things would have changed. We wouldn't have wandered in the dessert for another 38 years. Moses may have been able to cross over into Canaan. It could have been a deal breaker for us and think of the accolades that women would have been given. They would have been the first women to break that glass ceiling. Women would have been given roles of leadership and not just been the voice behind the throne. I get excited thinking of the what if's for women, if just this one little change had been made. Women scouts instead of the men. Who was this forward thinking Rabbi. What else did he interpret. I have to look him up on Google. He needs recognition.
