As I walk Cricket, I look into car ports. I am amazed that I see cars with hood ornaments. Those are those things that are attached to the hoods of some higher end cars. If this was Chicago, those hood ornaments would be broken off as prized trophies
to certain gang members. This thought made me remember an incident that happen to us many years ago. In Evanston, we had two, two car garages. For some reason, we parked our car on the street the night before. I was in our kitchen , with neighbor ladies having
coffee. We were truly house wives at that period of our lives. Bob was leaving ,in his business suit, to an appointment. He told us good bye, walked out the front door to take the car. Three minutes later, he walked into the kitchen, didn't say a word, picked
up the receiver on our yellow wall phone, dialed, waited a minutes, and said,"I'd like to report the theft of a front seat of a VW bus". I still laugh when I think back to how dramatic that was for us ladies sitting drinking coffee at 10 in the morning.I don't
remember how long it took to get a replacement seat, but we often saw front seats of VW buses on front porches when we drove on our trips back and forth to Michigan. I always wondered if one might be our old front seat .
