ON THE BACK BURNER

I just had a message on my Facebook blog from a neighbor from our old cottage in Michigan. It was so nice to hear from him. There was a lot that I wanted to tell him, but not on the FB page. A daughter said that I could send him a private message. I'm still working on that. What I wanted to say to him is that we often talk about our fun days at our cottage. We had some really good times there and a lot of memories, with us and our neighbors. One of the cottages down the road from us was originally a Sears Roebuck house. It should be declared a National landmark , but the owners, I don't think want to go there. Many of the cottages were family places that were in the fourth generation of ownership. Hopefully, they now have indoor plumbing. We have a lot to remember from our cottage days. Picking blueberries, going to town to the library, going in the other direction to buy tomatoes and corn. Being chased and bitten by a farm dog, having one of our dogs doing a kamikaze thing and attacking a pick up truck. That was a trip to the vet where we met our first woman vet. How embarrassing when I think back and we said to her, '"When is the vet coming to see Charlie ? " ( the first of two Charlie's). The Saturday trips to country auctions , the rows around the lake in our row boat or canoe. Gee, those were good times.. and all four kids were still at home with us. Sob.
