ON THE BACK BURNER

I was stopped at a traffic light and I looked over at the license plate of the car to my left and a little ahead of me. The case that frames the plate said Eastern Star. I hadn't thought of the Eastern Stars in many years. My Daddy was a "Grand Master" of his Masonic Lodge and I think the women's end of it was the Eastern Stars. Very gentile, I think. I supposed he couldn't get my Mother to join, so I remember going to the girls group called, if I remember correctly, The Rainbow Girls.I vaguely remember a ceremony with candles and standing in a line, which they called a processional. I never heard that word before. I'm blank after that, so I guess I wasn't destined to be a life time member. Funny how one word just makes a memory flash into your mind. I would love to be able to bring up other memories. Some good, some not so good about growing up.
