ON THE BACK BURNER

I am not into golf.Just like some of my friends are Jewish (?) , some of my friends play golf. I like to look out of our sliders onto the golf course and watch people play. Most of them look pretty mediocre to me. I have learned that if I hear a certain "whack" when they hit the ball, it'll at least get airborne.A lot of the time, the ball bounces a few time on the ground. But I do enjoy watching professional players. There is drama, skill, weather ,experience, misjudging , humbleness, math, problem solving , even tears at the end. I remember watching when the gallery was quiet ,with a polite applause when the ball came near the hole. Now, you can hear someone shouting out from the gallery. So uncouth. To think that some people make their living hitting a small ball around beautiful golf course, winning some, losing more. I know that they must have living expenses, families to support, coaches to pay, caddies to pay, entrance fees, travel fees, wear and tear on their families, their health, and their confidence. Not for the faint of heart.
