ON THE BACK BURNER

I have never walked into any place that we have owned or rented and said"this is my dream home".Then again, I've been content with whatever we owned or rented. Maybe I was not demanding enough. I watch these young punks on TV walk into a $800,000.00 new build house and say that they will have to remodel the kitchen, it is outdated. I always knew the minute that I stepped into the foyer of any place that we lived, that this was the right one. Any quirks that our house or apartment had was what gave it it's appeal. Our house in Evanston didn't have a plumb window in it. It seemed as if every window, even in the same room was a different measurement. We had to number the screens because of this. We lived in a co op in Chicago that was on the National Registry. That was cool. We couldn't change anything on the outside without permission . I loved that apartment. It had original hardware . It was rumored that Gloria Swanson and Charlie Chaplin lived in the building when Chicago had a short movie burst.Really Cool.
