ON THE BACK BURNER

Bob does not make "small talk". He never did. I remember his Mother making that statement. She was a very social lady and small talk was part of the social game. Bob just didn't. I bring that up because I am reading a book called "Works Well with Others". The chapter on small talk gives a couple of situations that just call for small talk. 1. When it would be awkward not to talk, you make small talk. Like "Do you think you'll be needing an umbrella later?" 2. Small talk doesn't work if you don't show some cuBob does not make "small talk". The talk should be interesting but not personal. And listening doesn't hurt. In certain situations small talk is called for but you have to remember ,"no large talk". When you go large, then you start talking about Crimean separatists. The author said that , not me. I don't know who these people even are.Maybe that's in the next chapter.riosity.
