I have made a startling discovery, at least for me. When I watch the Food shows, I get really hungry. If watching a cook fry oysters makes me droll, think what I feel when I see a whole meal come together. I sometimes buy the ingredients to make some
of the food items that I watch them make, but I seldom actually make them. I end up using the ingredients for something else, or putting them in my fridge. Days later, I wonder what I was going to make with them. I don't use a lot of canned foods. Tomatoes,
yes. I have a catalogue of canned tomatoes. sauce, paste, whole, crushed, diced. Some with Italian seasoning. A few with Mexican spices. You can never Go wrong with a can of tomatoes in the pantry. I grew up on veggies from a can. Spinach in a can. String beans
in a can. Peas in a can. Corn in a can. Asparagus in a can. And not to forget, peaches, pears, apricots and purple plums ,in a can. I guess you get the picture of my Mothers cooking style. What we did eat fresh was watermelon and creole tomatoes .It was crazy
not having fresh veggies because we lived where there was a long growing season. Go figure. I think that was my Mother's attempt to being Americanized.
